The art of drilling rock without any vibration

As part of the major works surrounding the Turcot construction site in Montreal, the reconstruction of the Saint-Jacques Bridge in 2016 required the sinking of 2.5-meter diameter drill casings over a distance of approximately 35 meters. However, the hardness of the rock made such work impossible to carry out using conventional equipment, particularly due to the surrounding structures, which are sensitive to ground vibrations.

Renowned for its innovative working methods, Forage CBF was called upon by the Quebec Ministry of Transport (MTQ) to deploy its cutting-edge expertise and carry out this project.

Drilling expertise that makes the difference

Using an oscillating box and specialized equipment capable of drilling rock with a density exceeding 250 MPA (36,500 PSI), Forage Camille Blais used all of its expertise to carry out this meticulous drilling work without causing vibration on the ground and surrounding structures. During the 12 months required to complete this work, no fewer than 20 professionals from Forage CBF were mobilized on site to ensure flawless planning and impeccable execution of the deep foundation project.

The Pont Saint-Jacques project embodies our commitment to excellence and innovation in drilling. Each project is the result of our expertise and passion, ensuring tailor-made and sustainable solutions for all our clients.
